Trading Profit Guide: Master Upgrading, Downgrading & Value Trends
Turn trading into a wealth-building engine. Learn to profit through strategic upgrades, downgrades, and trend analysis.
The Three Pillars of Profitable Trading
Successful traders focus on three core strategies:
- Upgrading: Trading multiple lower-value pets for one higher-value pet
- Downgrading: Trading one high-value pet for multiple lower-value pets strategically
- Trend Trading: Buying low when values drop and selling high when values spike
Strategy 1: Upgrading for Value Concentration
Upgrading is when you combine multiple pets into one more valuable pet. Example: Trade 5 pets worth 100 each (500 total) for 1 pet worth 490.
Why Upgrade?
- Focus your collection on high-value pets
- Reduce inventory clutter
- Easier to find buyers for rare, high-value pets
- Protect wealth—high-value pets are less likely to be scammed away
When to Upgrade:
- You have 5+ low-value pets taking up space
- You're approaching an inventory limit
- You want to simplify your collection
- You're targeting a specific high-value pet
Upgrade Example:
You own: King (200), Dragon (150), Phoenix (150), Beast (120), Wolf (80) = 700 total value
You trade all 5 for: Ancient Rare (680) = You've consolidated but lost 20 value due to trade fees. Worth it if you wanted the Ancient Rare for gameplay or future trading.
Strategy 2: Downgrading for Liquidity & Opportunities
Downgrading is trading one high-value pet for several lower-value pets. This seems like a bad trade until you understand the strategy.
Why Downgrade?
- Generate liquid assets (multiple pets to trade with)
- Test the market by trading smaller pets
- Reduce risk if one pet's value crashes
- Build trading capital to upgrade strategically
- Capitalize on sudden price swings (sell high-value pet quickly, rebuy cheaper later)
When to Downgrade:
- You notice a high-value pet is losing value rapidly
- You want to build a diverse portfolio
- You're gathering assets for a larger trade
- A major game patch suggests meta changes coming
Downgrade Example:
You own Ancient Rare (700 value) but see it trending downward on the value list.
You trade it for: Champion (250) + Legendary (200) + Epic (150) + Rare (80) = 680 total
Result: You lost 20 value, but you now have 4 liquid assets. You can trade these individually to different players or wait and rebuy Ancient Rare for 600 if its value drops.
Strategy 3: Reading Value Trends for Profit
The most sophisticated traders study value trends. Our value list shows "Updated" dates—use these to understand market movement.
Spotting Uptrends (Values Rising):
- Pet was 150 last week, 160 this week, 175 today
- Usually means: Recently buffed, became meta, or new players want it
- Action: BUY. Acquire as many as possible. Sell when the trend peaks.
Spotting Downtrends (Values Falling):
- Pet was 300 last week, 280 this week, 250 today
- Usually means: Recently nerfed, meta shifted, or oversupply
- Action: SELL. Get rid of them before they lose more value. Don't hold hoping they recover.
Spotting Stable Values:
- Pet consistently stays within a narrow range (e.g., 100-105)
- Usually means: Balanced, trusted pet with stable demand
- Action: HOLD or use as a trading anchor. These are safe pets for negotiation.
Spotting Volatility:
- Pet jumps from 80 to 120 to 90 randomly
- Usually means: Outlier trades, whale activity, or data anomalies
- Action: CAUTION. Wait for the trend to stabilize before trading heavily.
Using the Value List to Predict Movements
Look at the "Updated" Timestamps:
Pets updated TODAY are in active trading. These values are most reliable. Pets with old update dates might not reflect current reality.
Compare Variants:
If Normal pets are rising but Gold pets are falling, the meta may be shifting from premium variants toward accessibility. This predicts future value movements.
Watch Demand Ratings:
A pet with increasing demand (3/10 → 6/10) will likely see value increases soon. Buy before the uptrend is obvious.
Check for Seasonal Patterns:
Special event pets often spike before events start and crash after. Study past events to predict future movements.
The Profit Formula
Buy Low + Sell High = Profit
More specifically:
- Identify pets that are losing value (downtrend)
- Acquire them from traders who panic-sell
- Wait for the value to stabilize or recover
- Sell to players who aren't watching trends
- Use profits to upgrade or invest in rising pets
Combining Strategies: A Complete Trading Plan
Week 1: Study the value list. Identify 3 pets in downtrends and 3 in uptrends.
Week 2: Downgrade your high-value pets into multiple assets. Use those assets to buy the downtrending pets at lower prices.
Week 3: Monitor the downtrending pets. Once they stabilize, upgrade them back into something valuable or hold for recovery.
Week 4: Sell stabilized/recovered pets to players who missed the trend. Repeat the cycle.
The Trader's Mindset
Profitable traders don't get emotionally attached to pets. You're not collecting—you're trading for profit. If a pet you love is in a downtrend, sell it. If a pet you hate is in an uptrend, buy it. Let the data guide your decisions, not your feelings.
Common Trading Mistakes
- Panic selling: Values dip slightly and you sell. Don't. Study trends before reacting.
- Ignoring the calculator: Always verify trades. Leaving value on the table hurts profits.
- Chasing trends: Buying after the peak has already passed. By the time you notice a trend, it's often ending.
- Holding losers: A pet in a consistent downtrend won't recover. Cut your losses and redeploy capital.
- Over-leveraging: Trading all your assets into volatile pets. Keep some stable assets for insurance.
